Fair Warning; This will be the only description that you will ever read that tells you like it is. We are not trying to ‘sell’ you on this trip. In fact, we hope that most of you read and decide ‘nope, I am definitely not ready for that’. Why? To understand if this Kilimanjaro trip is right for you, please keep reading.
Kilimanjaro is often a bucket list trek, someone had a friend who ‘did it’ and now they want to try.
But it needs more respect than this. Its a serious and dangerous mountain climb. Its a huge undertaking Just because you CAN climb it as a beginner does NOT mean you should. Our experience over 15 years of taking groups to this mountain has proven a few things: yes, anyone can do it, but those that really truly enjoy and appreciate the challenge are trekkers who have at least some hiking and mountain experience. They will also be able to understand the benefits that our trek offers in comparison to their previous mountain experiences.
We are not able to offer this experience to anyone who can not answer these questions positively. However, if you aspire to climb it, consider Mt Kenya first, which will give you all of the experience you need to be successful on Kilimanjaro.
Questions to ask yourself before you decide if this is right for you:
Are you self disciplined in your cardio, hiking and endurance training?
Have you done at least 1 mountain trip to at least 3000m?
Have you slept in a sleeping bag and a tent and not taken a shower for at least 3 days?
Have you completed any hike, anymore, of longer than 10 hours?
Do you have the budget to make this a truly once in a lifetime and enjoyable experience?
Do you have 11 days to use for the trip?
How Our Trek is Unique:
First, by the group dymanics. Everyone in your group will be experienced and ready for the trip. Altitude sickness is something else, but good fitness will minimize your risks of this as well. Excellent. fitness is simply, a MUST.
This tour will include a day acclimatization prior to the start of the hike to further support your body’s ability to adjust to the trek you are about to embark on.
We are choosing the Lemosho 8 day trek for better acclimatization and shorter. days in the beginning. The route joins Machame so the summit route will be the same as Lemosho.
